Former Minister of Economy of Ukraine: Russia won even when Nord Stream 2 was not launched
High prices for energy resources allowed Gazprom to make a huge profit at the end of last year and completely recoup the costs of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, which was never put into operation.
Former Minister of Economy of Ukraine Viktor Suslov stated this on the UkrLife TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, given the current state of affairs, it is even beneficial for Russia to freeze the launch of SP-2.
“Pay attention to the profits announced by Gazprom for last year. They claim that thanks to this whole situation they have received unprecedented income that has never been seen before due to rising prices for energy resources and gas.
They say that thanks to this, Nord Stream 2, even not put into operation, has already paid for itself many times over this period.
And I absolutely agree that one can suspect that somewhere the Americans are interacting with the Russians in this regard. Because the Americans are the largest supplier of liquefied gas, prices have also increased very much, and they also earn a lot,” Suslov said.
