Former Minister of Defense of Ukraine: Putin achieved his goal, Crimea is not discussed
The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, achieved his goal, and Crimea is practically not remembered in the West. Ex-Minister of Defense Anatoly Gritsenko stated this on air at UkrLife.
According to him, the West does not formally recognize Crimea as Russian, but this does not change the reality.

“Putin, it seems to me, has achieved his goal. He took Crimea, and conversations about Crimea practically stopped. They are not recognized purely ritually, but there are many territories that are not recognized, and therefore their status does not change. In 2008, he took over two republics within Georgia. Nobody recognized them, except, it seems, Syria and Venezuela, but that doesn’t make it any easier. Crimea is not discussed, and the Minsk agreements do not contain the word “Crimea,” Gritsenko said.
