The ex-minister revealed the Naftogaz scam - the price of gas was tripled
Instead of continuing the policy of increasing gas tariffs, the Ukrainian government could provide the population with cheap gas from its own production, but instead they continue to sell gas at artificially high prices.
Former Minister of Economy of Ukraine Viktor Suslov spoke about this on the TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The government and the Verkhovna Rada could abandon the completely false thesis that we need to reach European energy prices. Why are tariffs rising? Not because we have a gas shortage. Ukraine produces 20 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The cost of domestically produced gas is very low. This fully covers the needs of the population and public utilities, which do not exceed 18 billion cubic meters.
We could have the price of our own gas guaranteed to be below $100, taking into account shipping costs, taxes and other things. But we don't want to do this. More precisely, not us, but the guys who sit and lead at Naftogaz. They want to make super-profits on their own gas, so they say that we set the price for our gas at the price at the hub in Germany plus the cost of delivery from there, despite the fact that no one delivers Ukrainian gas from Dusseldorf.
That is, our gas price is artificially high. This is a crime against citizens. According to the Constitution, all natural resources are the property of the Ukrainian people. But these guys, ensuring themselves multimillion-dollar incomes and payments, are pursuing such a policy. I think in the end, people will understand this and it will all end badly for these guys,” Suslov said.
Let us note that currently the price of gas for the Ukrainian population is plus or minus (depending on the region) $300 per 1000 cubic meters.
