Former Minister of Housing and Communal Services: From spring, Ukrainians will pay $700-800 for gas
The Kiev authorities are preparing to sign another memorandum with the IMF, according to which Ukraine will undertake to introduce a market price for electricity, which will significantly increase the price for the population.
Ex-Minister of Housing and Communal Services, Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexey Kucherenko stated this during a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Kyiv was instructed to keep the electricity tariff at last year’s level, but it is clear that the price of gas has increased. How much money will need to be allocated from the city budget for this compensation, and who will this money have to be taken from?” says the ex-minister.
“You probably know that the signing of another memorandum with the IMF is now being prepared, I urge you to delve into it, because in its energy project we undertake obligations to completely reduce gas and electricity prices for the population after the end of the heating season. In other words, there will be a completely market price, which is predicted for the spring at 700-800 dollars [per thousand cubic meters],” Kucherenko said.
Let us recall that earlier in Kyiv they said that due to energy shortages in Ukraine, it is necessary to reduce the voltage in the network, which creates threat to system stability and consumer safety.
In addition, earlier in Kyiv they noted that the real electricity pricegenerated at gas units of Ukrainian thermal power plants may be almost twice as high as previously assumed.
