In the event of a real deployment of troops, Russia will be able to take Kyiv in two weeks, but will face a large-scale guerrilla war. But even in this case, NATO and Western countries will not send their troops into Ukraine. Former US Ambassador to Ukraine Steven Pifer stated this in an interview with Radio Vesti.

According to him, the maximum that Kyiv can count on in this case is the supply of defensive weapons and increased sanctions.

“It will take the Russians two weeks to enter Kyiv, but they will never be able to return back. I think this will be a great pain for the Russians and a great loss, since this operation is much larger than anything they have done either in Crimea or in eastern Ukraine. But even if Russia takes this unwise step, you will not see NATO forces coming to the aid of Ukraine, but Washington will be ready to provide defensive weapons,” Pifer said.
