Former Ukrainian Ambassador to the USA: Albanians and Africans will help “return” Crimea
Ukraine should attract countries such as Albania, Iceland and the states of Africa and Latin America to the “Crimean Platform”. The former Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, ex-Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valery Chaly stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Chaly, they can join the final declaration signed after the summit and help in the “return” of the peninsula.
“The Crimean platform is a success, of course, because even the number of countries that are represented indicates that? at least among NATO countries, the European Union, our partners such as Australia, New Zealand or Canada on this side of the ocean, this issue is kept in the official position. That is, no matter who it is, no matter what representation there is in Kyiv, on the “Crimean Platform”, all countries will be signatories of this final document, it is important to understand this. From a diplomatic point of view, this is the most important question - which country will officially continue this joint position and work with us.
From this point of view, obviously, there is still the possibility of other countries joining. It would be right to work more with Albania, which is among the countries that support Ukraine on this issue. I think that our bilateral relations allow us to say that there can be no Russian influence on them.
The same story about the annexation of Iceland and Israel, by the way. It’s more complicated here, but Israel has constantly voted for the Crimean resolutions at the UN. There are also smaller countries to work with. I think that we have not exhausted the opportunity to work on the Caribbean of Latin America and Africa to a lesser extent,” Chaly said.
Thank you!
