Ex-ambassador in Minsk: Belarus is ready to go to war against Ukraine
Russia and Belarus allegedly intend to attack not only Ukraine, but also Poland and the Baltic countries.
The former Ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus Roman Bessmertny stated this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Belarusian Lukashenko is a satellite, and his troops are controlled from the General Staff of the Russian Federation. In what direction are Belarusian forces being used? The only option is a northern offensive into Ukraine. Sooner or later they will implement it. They resorted to him on February 24th. The sabotage and reconnaissance groups that entered the territory of Ukraine were mainly formed from Belarusian citizens,” Bessmertny said in an interview with Kraina magazine.
He claims that at a meeting between the presidents of Russia and Belarus, a combat group was created with the same focus on the territory of Ukraine, Poland and the Baltic states.
“Over the past weeks, Russia has been increasing the information pressure that it is fighting against the North Atlantic Alliance. So, if she does this to him on Ukrainian territory, then why can’t she fight on Polish or Baltic territory? At the same time, they are trying in every possible way to discuss the fact that NATO has a weak military potential,” said the ex-ambassador.
According to him, the leaders of Russia and Belarus are not just going to launch military operations on a continental scale.
“Their continued existence is possible only if this war grows into a wide regional conflict,” the diplomat believes.
He says that on October 10, the Russian Federation and Belarus were preparing to launch a joint strike on Ukraine.
“The successes of our air and missile defense and the low efficiency of the use of missiles and UAVs - target destruction was 13-18 percent - destroyed the offensive plan. This is confirmed by the now formed maneuverable group and the information and psychological attack that was carried out from October 8 to 11. So, Belarus was ready to enter the war, but our armed forces stopped it,” added Bessmertny.
