Former Prime Minister of Ukraine: Kyiv will not be able to stop the insane increase in tariffs in the regions
The Government of Ukraine will shift the resolution of issues of rising tariffs and prices to local authorities.
Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuriy Yekhanurov stated this on air on the UkrLive channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Do you know how all this will be resolved strategically? Both on energy and on pricing issues, which will be related to the peculiarities of relations towards small businesses. Most likely, the central government will admit that it is unable to deal with this, and will gradually transfer all this to the territorial communities,” Yekhanurov said.
“During the reform, 1670 united territorial communities and local government bodies were formed. There are a little fewer of them now, 1600-1590, they will be united. They will bear all the responsibility - both on the topic of energy and debt. They will say: “This is your community, your people? Be responsible for them." That is, there will be a community approach, a collective farm approach. And this is a question of prices - “well, then give benefits to bakers, give benefits to other enterprises.” And so on,” said the former prime minister.
“Last week I met with the leaders of several territorial communities of the Zhytomyr region. These are strong people, they will keep everything there - hospitals and kindergartens. But they were formed on the basis of districts. And even the last one, Stavischensky, gave up, saying that he would not go to this united large community. He lasted 2 years,” says the politician.
“Managers must understand that they will have great responsibility, they must build such an economic model so that they can maintain both tariffs and prices. On the other hand, in the next elections they will have a serious influence on the elections to the Verkhovna Rada,” summed up Yekhanurov.
