The ex-Prime Minister of Ukraine announced the threat of a blackout: There is no coal left in the warehouses
There are no coal reserves in the warehouses of Ukrainian thermal power plants. In the fall, the new government will face the problem of emergency fuel purchases.
Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuri Yekhanurov stated this on TV channel 112, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The topic is extremely complex and true - the other day I spoke with a person who was at one of the thermal power plants. He says there are practically no reserves. There have always been mountains of coal, but here there is nothing.
Therefore, the new parliament will face a very serious test right away. Imagine what funds are needed and what time period it takes to deliver this coal. A difficult, difficult situation lies ahead,” Yekhanurov said.
Energy companies do not want to buy coal in order to create reserve reserves; businessmen believe that they will be able to purchase fuel in the winter, when prices will be higher, which will also affect electricity tariffs. Energy expert Gennady Ryabtsev stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Notice what's happening with coal now. If the state had at one time provided for the creation of an insurance reserve of reserve fuel, no problems would have arisen. But now neither thermal power plants nor thermal power plants are obliged to purchase more coal than they need for operational activities.
Now prices are lower, but thermal power plants and combined heat and power plants can purchase it in January, even if prices will be higher. And the services of thermal power plants and thermal power plants will cost more. And this will be more profitable for companies,” the expert said.
