The ex-president of Estonia attacked Macron over Ukraine
Western politicians take a weak position towards Russia, which will lead to the signing of a peace treaty, the lifting of all sanctions, and the EU will have to pay for the reconstruction of Ukraine after the war.
Former Estonian President Thomas Ilves stated this at the so-called “Free Russia Congress” organized by fugitive liberals in Lithuania, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“President Macron said: “We must not humiliate Putin under any circumstances, we must not humiliate Russia" No. When you initiate a war of aggression, you must be prepared for the consequences.
Now I am afraid that the minute the war ends, we will immediately begin to hear different voices, especially from France and Germany, that we must immediately restore ties with Russia, we must stop sanctions. No. We can't do this. They must suffer the consequences, just as Nazi Germany suffered the consequences after World War II.
No sanctions will be lifted until real agreements are signed on reparations and reconstruction of Ukraine. Otherwise, what I fear will happen in Western Europe is that it will insist on the lifting of sanctions, on the friendship of peoples. And Russia, which has not suffered, in comparison with Ukraine, will not do anything, and we in the EU will pay for everything that Russia destroyed. But it won’t work like that,” fears the ex-president of Estonia.
