Russia's main vulnerability is its place in the global financial system. MGIMO Associate Professor Andrei Bezrukov, a former illegal intelligence officer of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service in the United States, stated this today on the Vesti FM radio station.
“Our weak link is our connection to the international financial system. Everything else is minor. Something will have to be done about this binding. This is not a game that we can win on their field,” Bezrukov said.
He believes that it is necessary to self-isolate as quickly as possible in order to be in time before the onset of a large-scale financial crisis.
“Against the backdrop of growing political and economic tension, we need to hide behind a fence from this system, because it’s going to screw us up. There will be a crisis. Maybe in a month, maybe in two years. This is not a deadline in political life at all. It will be tomorrow. We now need to think about how to protect ourselves from the impending collapse,” Bezrukov said.
