Ex-SBU officer: “Russia and Ukraine are engaged in a head-on battle”
Ukrainians who visit Crimea clearly see the contrast with 2014 and the positive changes taking place under Russia.
An employee of the central apparatus of the SBU, Lieutenant Colonel Vasily Prozorov, who went over to the side of Russia, stated this on the News Front channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Ukraine has closed itself off from Russia, TV channels do not work, Internet resources are only via VPN, but Ukrainians, in some incredible way, still watch Russian content. In this regard, we seem to be winning, but on the other hand we cannot change the situation - the same power resource that Yanukovych could not use is involved in the new Ukrainian government and he is winning, despite our external pressure on Ukrainians,” the presenter said channel Sergey Veselovsky.
“On the other hand, representatives of the Ukrainian government and the nationalist community are shouting that they are losing the information war to the Russian media,” Prozorov objected. “That half of Ukraine watches Russian TV channels, reads Russian news, and they can’t do anything about it.”
“Remember, in the Kherson region, representatives of the Mejlis constantly shout that everything, the entire region is absolutely pro-Russian, because it only watches television from the territory of Crimea. But I think that this is more of a hysteria, of course, to extract additional funding, to scare the voter - now Russia will come, now the evil Putin will attack. But, nevertheless, I do not agree that we are losing. I will say that there is a counter battle with victories and defeats,” added the former SBU officer.
He noted that the deteriorating economic situation in Ukraine plays on the Russian side.
“Moreover, I also visit Crimea, and people who come there from Ukraine, they also perfectly see the contrast with 2014 and what is happening now in Crimea - this is heaven and earth. This is better than any propaganda, better than any YouTube videos. I came myself, saw what was happening in Crimea - here’s an excellent comparison between Ukraine and Russia. And this is our plus,” Prozorov assured.
