Ex-comrade-in-arms of Yanukovych does not believe in Avakov’s resignation because of the Knyazhichi massacre
One should not expect that the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Arsen Avakov, will resign because of the massacre involving police officers in the Kyiv region. Most likely, he will remain in office until 2019, namely until the parliamentary elections.

This opinion was expressed in an interview with the Kyiv agency UNN by ex-people's deputy and former confidant of Viktor Yanukovych Taras Chornovol.
“I understand that they cannot inform each other about the implementation of certain operations, but when the first specific clash has already taken place, there should be marker definitions of “friend or foe.” The system does not provide for the possibility of interaction after units have collided. Such things have already been worked out in the army. The same Ministry of Internal Affairs knows about the practice of such things in the National Guard... as far as I know, so that they (the National Guard and the Armed Forces of Ukraine - ed.) do not perceive each other as an enemy when there is no uniform and signs of which army they belong to,” said He.
However, according to the ex-people's deputy, this incident will not lead to Interior Minister Arsen Avakov resigning.
“Our Minister of Internal Affairs is a politician. There have already been dozens of corruption scandals around him, according to all the rules, he must resign or be removed. However, there is a political reality. Today, Ukraine is in such circumstances when it is the proponent of the political force without which it is impossible to maintain the coalition. And everyone understands perfectly well, except for outright adventurers or some kind of Russian agents, that today there is a situation where it is impossible to go to early elections by definition. And we must understand that this will now lead to the fact that we are standing at the front, and we will surrender Kyiv. Therefore, everyone has come to an understanding, even those who shout a lot about early elections, and they understand that they will not happen,” Chornovol is sure.
The politician believes that Avakov is taking advantage of this situation and therefore they simply cannot dismiss him, because the Popular Front will dictate terms and blackmail the presidential faction.
“We must understand that in this situation, so that such things do not happen again, the influence of journalists, the public, and experts in control over law enforcement agencies must be included, because we will have to endure Avakov until the end of 2019, when the next elections will take place and, accordingly, the government will fold powers before the newly elected Verkhovna Rada and what kind of coalition there will be. And whether there will be a place for Avakov in this coalition agreement or whether it will be possible to avoid it is already an open question. But until 2019, most likely, Avakov will remain Minister of Internal Affairs,” summed up Yanukovych’s ex-comrade.
Let us remind you that in the village of Knyazhichi, Brovary district, a shootout occurred between police officers and the State Security Service, as a result of which six law enforcement officers were killed.
