In the foreseeable historical future, Crimea will not return to Ukraine; time will pass and everyone will come to terms with this, just as they came to terms with the fact that Siberia is also Russia.

The famous Russian oppositionist, former adviser to Boris Nemtsov, ex-State Duma deputy Boris Nadezhdin stated this on the Forpost Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

In the foreseeable historical future, Crimea will not return to Ukraine, time will pass and that’s it...

According to Nadezhdin, one way or another, the fact of the Russian status of Crimea will eventually cease to be disputed and this will not surprise anyone.

“People are somehow already completely in Russia, and to seriously discuss that they will change their minds and want to return to Ukraine - I don’t see such chances in the foreseeable future. Speaking seriously, of course, we can allow for a scenario in which Crimea falls back, God forbid, nothing good will come from this. But theoretically, one can assume that, in the end, Russia once had something - Finland, Poland were Russia, then they ceased to be. Now no one really cares about this.

Some large territories were not Russian - Siberia was not Russian before Ermak, but now it is Russian, and no one is running around saying: “Hurray, Novosibirsk is ours, Omsk is ours.” It looks strange somehow, you will agree. Therefore, I do not think that during the lifetime of my and the next generation anything will change radically. Extremely unlikely. And then I hope that someday we will live to a time when this will no longer seriously bother anyone, whose Crimea is Ukrainian or Russian.

I'll give you a simple historical example. By the way, I say this especially for the citizens of Ukraine - I am aware that this is a heavy loss, I am aware that many residents of Ukraine really have a hard time with the fact that a fairly large populated area with a good climate was separated from Ukraine. Of course, I understand these feelings of resentment, bitterness, resentment towards our northern neighbor and all that. But let's just remember the story. Time heals... A certain number of years will pass, and everyone will get used to it, both in Ukraine and in Russia, that this is the case. I hope this will happen,” Nadezhdin said.
