“The most important result of yesterday’s presidential elections is the formal and legal death of Putin’s myth about the so-called. “split” of Ukraine into the western-central and south-eastern parts, into “Westerners” and Russian-speakers, into “Bandera” and “Novorossiya”. This is the funeral of Putin's plan to divide Ukraine. This is the final completion of the 20-year period of “Ukrainization”, an important stage on the path of Westernization and Europeanization of Ukraine,” Illarionov wrote in his blog.

He noted that the candidates, who received a total of about 80% of the votes, defend the integration of Ukraine into the West. This means “the absolute victory of the national choice by Ukrainian citizens of the Western version of the development of a united Ukraine.”

“Vladimir Putin’s projects to seize Ukraine, to establish control over Ukraine, to divide Ukraine suffered a crushing defeat... Ukraine, almost all of Ukraine, became anti-Putin. And oriented towards integration into the Western, i.e. into the modern world,” argues Illarionov.

Let us remind you that the majority of residents of Crimea and Donbass did not participate in the current elections.
