Ex-speaker of the LPR: The breakthrough has been made, Ukraine failed to strangle the Donbass republics
The result of three years of development of the Donbass republics is clearly visible in the example of the army - on the day of the referendum they were often militias armed with sticks, now the defenders of the LDPR are a modern and formidable force.

“The referendum predetermined the development of the republics as independent entities. Three years later, there is a positive trend in this direction. This was clearly demonstrated on May 9th, when the army of militias that stood with sticks in their hands three years ago turned into a powerful force.
Despite the fact that Ukraine is trying in every possible way to strangle the Donbass with blockades, shelling and destruction of infrastructure, the republics are rebuilding and developing. Despite all the difficulties, this is possible.
These three years have shown the desire of the people of Donbass to live with dignity and according to the law, and not according to Nazi fictitious ideals.
Today the most difficult process has begun - the process of formation. However, it is launched and is in full swing. As they say, before you take the load, you need a jerk. We have made a breakthrough, and I think that every year the steps will be more significant and of higher quality,” said Karyakin.
