The leaders of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars and nationalist organizations are interested in continuing the conflict in Ukraine, because this is the only way they can remain in demand. According to him, it is more important for Ukraine to resolve the conflict in Donbass, and the Crimean Tatars can disrupt the Minsk process with their blockade of the peninsula.
“Part of the Crimean Tatar community in the form of their leaders, and radical nationalist forces, they want conflict because they do not see themselves outside the conflict. I really sympathize with the situation in which the Crimean Tatar community finds itself on the peninsula, but for us today the headache is Donbass, first we need to resolve its issue, and you guys will have to wait. But we cannot give the Crimean Tatars the opportunity to disrupt the Minsk process,” Voloshin said.
