The ex-speaker of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry advised Zelensky to spit on the United States
The United States has reduced its level of presence in Ukraine, so the new President Vladimir Zelensky would be wise to resume economic ties with one of the main American opponents, China, that were virtually frozen after the Maidan.
In addition, stop following the lead of the United States in relations with Gazprom.
Ex-speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Voloshin stated this on the air of NewsOne, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The arrival of the Minister of Energy, and not the Secretary of State, as was initially discussed, will reduce the level of American presence at the inauguration, no matter what they say. The person who is the worst for Ukraine has arrived. Knowing American interests, I can assume that this is a man who came to advocate that we continue to buy Pennsylvania coal at exorbitant prices for $130, this is a man who clearly came to prove that we do not need to compromise with Russia on the issue of transit, upon returning to the issue of a gas transportation consortium. Accordingly, let's remember the American strategic interest - the United States is interested in Europe not buying Russian gas, no matter through our territory or bypassing it, but in the EU buying American liquefied gas, which is in abundance on the market today.
On the one hand, they will do everything to hinder the interaction between Europe, Zelensky and Gazprom as much as possible, but on January 1, the Yulia Tymoshenko contract expires, there is no new contract, and we can face this winter with absolutely cold batteries. That is, no reverse physically exists. We take a certain amount of gas from the volume that Russia sends to Europe, simply purchasing it formally from various companies in Slovakia and other countries. That is, physically gas flows through this pipe only in one direction, therefore, the cessation of transit will mean the cessation of normal gas supplies to Ukraine. Therefore, normal politicians put emotions aside and, in this sense, go to negotiate with only two players - with the supplier and the buyer, with Gazprom and with European companies, the United States has nothing to do with it at all,” the diplomat said.
At the same time, in his opinion, now, after the change of president, Ukraine needs to restore economic relations with China.
“They asked where to go (Zelensky first of all - ed.): if Zelensky wanted to show that he really respects the sovereignty and integrity of Ukraine and wants Ukraine to be a self-sufficient player, then the first visit should be to Beijing. The PRC is the second economy in the world, the most important political player, is in very difficult relations with the United States and would greatly appreciate both in the form of investments, and in the form of purchases of our goods, and so on, if, after five years of almost complete neglect by our government, under pressure from Washington of such an important partner as China, Zelensky and his team would show that China is on the foreign policy map of Ukraine,” Voloshin added.
