This was stated by the ex-goalkeeper of Dynamo Kyiv Alexander Shovkovsky on February 18 during a meeting with fans in Kyiv.

Video recording of his words published on the FootballHub YouTube channel.

“I have spoken Russian all my life. Yes, I understand perfectly well that now I may be given a lot of disadvantages. We all must move towards switching to the Ukrainian language. We should all strive for this, of course. And this should happen first of all in our generation. All training should take place in Ukrainian, and then everyone will switch to speaking our native language,” Shovkovsky said.

After that, he continued speaking in Ukrainian. The footballer admitted that it is difficult for him to speak the state language, since he thinks in Russian.
