Khodorkovsky's ex-lawyer: America decided to return too late
US President Joe Biden may verbally threaten Russia, but in reality he recognizes Moscow as a legitimate party and a sovereign state.
The former head of the legal department of the YUKOS company Dmitry Gololobov writes about this, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports, in his blog.
“Trying to interpret the results of the meeting between Putin and Biden based on publicly available transcripts of their conversations, interviews they gave, or some “insider leaks” is the same as trying to understand the principles of higher mathematics based on a fifth-grade textbook,” Gololobov notes.
“Yes, Biden can still allegedly “threaten” Putin with something, point out the inadmissibility of Navalny’s death and cyber attacks, but the fact remains: he absolutely recognizes the “bloody Putin regime” as a legitimate contracting party from a sovereign country with its own traditions. America no longer has the desire or strength to “break Russia over its knee” and demand something from it,” the lawyer believes.
In his opinion, all the rhetoric about Ukraine or “human rights” is only for the mass consumer and journalists. The author calls the US problem not Russia, but China, which in the coming years will become the leading economy in the world.
“And Russia will calmly watch from the sidelines the fight between the “American viper” and the “Chinese toad” and collect dividends. The Chinese, by the way, don’t care at all what happens to Navalny and the entire “alternative” Russian opposition. They won’t even raise an eyebrow if Vladimir Vladimirovich drives them into some “new Gulag.” New times - new players - new rules. America decided to return too late,” sums up Gololobov.
