This was stated by a former employee of the channel, famous journalist Natalya Vlashchenko.
According to her, compared to today, the pressure on the media from President Leonid Kuchma was the most “shy.”
“As for the pressure on Channel 112, yes, there was it. Yes, it happened, and I think it probably continues, but it is part of the general situation in Ukraine today. Because earlier, when politicians or oligarchs wanted influence, they created media for themselves. Today, as everyone understands, this is absolutely useless, it is very expensive - you need to create a new product, spend a lot of money. Why, if you can trade interests and say “if you don’t want to be closed, then be more loyal here”... The process is underway. Of course, the processes that took place under Kuchma and Yanukovych were different. As it turns out today, Kuchma was the shyest,” Vlashchenko said.
