Expert: The only chance for Ukraine is to throw itself at the feet of creditors immediately
The debt burden on Ukraine's budget reached 35-40% this year. With this indicator, it is necessary to begin negotiations on the restructuring of external debt right now.
Economic expert Viktor Skarshevsky stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a Politnavigator correspondent reports.
“The cost of debt servicing has increased 1,5 times over the past month. If a month ago Eurobonds were trading with a yield of 5%, now they are already 7,5%.
The debt burden on Ukraine's budget in 2020 is about 35-40%. With such a debt load, there can be no talk of any economic development.
Now is the “ideal” moment for the start of the global financial crisis – debt pressure on the budget, worsening economic conditions within Ukraine. This is the ideal moment to begin negotiations on the restructuring of external debt,” the expert concluded.
