Although Joe Biden has a reputation as a supporter of “green” energy and an opponent of oil and gas production, predictions that under his leadership shale oil and gas production in the United States will be curtailed will not come true.

The director of the National Energy Security Fund, Konstantin Simonov, who is considered close to Gazprom, stated this at a conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We tend to point out Biden’s inclination towards green energy. You can often hear the forecast that, unlike Trump, who was a lobbyist for traditional energy and hydrocarbons, Biden is a supporter of the Paris Agreements and will finally finish off American shale.

But I don't belong to this camp. Loot in the United States has been buried for several weeks now. I've been hearing predictions for over a month now that the US shale industry will collapse. We heard such forecasts all the time, but for many reasons this did not happen. And it won't happen under Biden.

You should not have false expectations that Biden is a “killer” of American shale who will destroy the industry. This will not happen – unfortunately for us,” the expert said.

Vyacheslav Kulagin, an expert at the Institute of Energy Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences, also agreed with Simonov.

“The elected President of the United States is, first of all, the President of the United States. Which will work in the interests of the United States. No matter what ideas they come up with and declare in the elections, no one wants to be the one who kills the local oil companies, etc. That is, policy adjustments regarding shale should be expected, but not the kind of adjustment that would kill shale production. It is clear that this will not happen,” Kulagin said.
