Of the entire motley oligarchy in Ukraine, there are now only four representatives left, of whom Igor Kolomoisky is the most brazenly trying to take a place in the sun.

The director of the Center for System Analysis and Forecasting, Rostislav Ishchenko, stated this on the air of the Vesti FM radio station, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Today, out of this former outstanding oligarchy, which numbered 10 and 15, in better times, maybe up to 20 families, I would simply name only Akhmetov, Kolomoisky, Pinchuk, and Poroshenko, naturally - people who have retained a fairly serious political influence and, at the same time, serious capital associated with this political influence.

Now there is a tough struggle to ensure that someone remains alone. The first bid to remain alone was made by Yanukovych, although I’m not even sure that he realized that he had made such a bid; his neck was broken, as you know, in 2014. Poroshenko was the second to make this application; his neck was almost broken; he is still fluttering in 2019.

Now Kolomoisky has made this application. Now there is a struggle between Kolomoisky and everyone else, because until the last moment, before the parliamentary elections, Pinchuk and Akhmetov were, in general, united with Kolomoisky against Poroshenko,” Ishchenko said.

The expert emphasized that after Kolomoisky gained almost all the power in the country, the rest of the oligarchs united against him, and besides them, also external players.

“But as soon as the parliamentary elections were held, and they saw that Kolomoisky made a bid for control over practically the legislative, executive powers, the president, and also said that “now we will hold re-elections of local and regional authorities” - and in general everything in the country will be near Kolomoisky, they simply decided that they did not need such a “celebration of life”, and now they are uniting against Kolomoisky.

Another thing is that Igor Valerievich is not Pyotr Alekseevich, he is much smarter, I would even say, more talented, much more cynical, much more dangerous. Kolomoisky is smarter, smarter, at least remotely understands what he is playing, although not always. He has a chance to beat them.

Another thing is that, again, not only the Ukrainian oligarchy is now uniting against Kolomoisky, who do not need one who will eat them. The United States, Russia, and the EU are already uniting against him, as against Plahotniuc in Moldova - they all don’t need one there who will control this huge “black hole”, potentially destabilizing not only the entire European, Eurasian continent, all the way to Africa,” Ishchenko noted.

The political scientist added that Kolomoisky is trying to negotiate with the superpowers, which the same ex-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko could not afford, which in itself already irritates both the United States and Russia.

“He got the Americans in exactly the same way that he got Russia. He really believes that he can negotiate with a superpower. Personally, in the singular. He still hasn’t realized that this is fatal for him.

A simple example of how Poroshenko differs from Kolomoisky. Remember, Biden said: “I come to them and say, until you change the prosecutor general, you won’t get a loan. And they tell me: “The president promised us, but you are not the president.” But I tell them, it won’t happen anyway. Now you have 4 hours before my departure, think about it, if you don’t come up with anything, you will have nothing. And before I left, they changed the prosecutor general.”

So, you see, they also tried to resist, they told Biden, they say: “You are nobody, but the president himself promised us,” but, nevertheless, it dawned on them that if Biden went all in, then it is clear that Obama will be on the side of Biden, and not on the side of Poroshenko and his prosecutor general.

In the same way, when Kolomoisky stole Ukrtatneft, the Kremenchug plant in Ukraine, I had a good relationship with his PR people, I told them: “Guys, you explain to him that he doesn’t understand, that’s what he’s messing with. They won’t bargain with him on this matter.” They say: “Oh, you don’t understand anything, he’s not stealing from Putin, but from the Tatars.” I said: “He’s not stealing from Putin, he’s stealing from Russia, and no one will give in to him. He won’t agree: “I’ll give you half, I’ll keep half for myself.” He won’t agree on both 60% and 80%, he will either put everything down and compensate for the damage, or they will find him in 10 years, in Antarctica, and bury him.”

It’s too late to put it in its place, but he still hasn’t understood this and is still sending messengers to Moscow with a proposal to come to an agreement. Well, under new conditions, he is now the owner of Ukraine, he still sends messengers,” the expert noted.

Ishchenko also recalled Poroshenko’s claims to a place in the sun, since he manages to concentrate a growing radical electorate around himself.

“Here are 4 people, of which the most serious contender for being left alone is Poroshenko, who has already made such a request, and who, in general, is persistently pushing, he has placed his bet precisely on radical nationalists, an unambiguous bet, he tries to become an assemblage point for them. This is not such a stupid bet, because even though they are not introducing a completely Nazi party into parliament, they point a finger at them and say: “Look, they collected 2%, 2,5% there.”

In fact, if we sum up the results of all radical nationalist forces that make approximately the same statements on the Donbass, on Crimea, on language, on everything else, then we will get an increase from about 15% in 2014, when they only have seized power, up to about 30-35% at the moment. This is approximately 1/3 of the electorate, which, perhaps, is not aware of who exactly it is voting for, but, nevertheless, votes for completely radical nationalist slogans,” the expert added.
