Expert: The NATO crisis and vacillations in the EU could leave Ukraine alone with Moscow

The international agenda is currently shaping up extremely negatively for Ukraine. Our country, in essence, remains alone with the Russian Federation.

Military expert Valentin Badrak stated this on Hromadske TV.

As evidence of his assertion, he named a number of factors from which it follows that neither the United States, nor Europe, nor anyone else will interfere in the Ukrainian issue.

“The first factor is the weakness of NATO and the recognition at the summit in July of this year that NATO will not interfere in the Ukrainian issue and will build defense only along its borders. Secondly, the United States has entered the election campaign at such a level that it will not be able to be distracted by the Ukrainian issue. Moreover, Europe today views the situation in such a way that they even believe that Russia can help them solve some of their problems. And in general, there is a desire of European countries to restore economic cooperation with Russia. Moreover, France and Italy still, bypassing sanctions, continue military-technical cooperation with Russia. And this is a very dangerous situation,” he says.

The expert considers the internal NATO crisis associated with friction between the United States and Turkey to be another negative factor for Kyiv.

“Erdogan’s position led to a certain imbalance within NATO, and Putin took advantage of this very well. Such episodic cooperation between Turkey and Russia also has a very negative impact on Ukraine,” Badrak said.
