Expert: exchange of prisoners showed the duplicity of the Ukrainian side
Although the prisoner exchange that took place today between Ukraine and the LDPR is a positive phenomenon, it is not worth saying that the peaceful settlement has reached the finish line.

Political scientist Denis Denisov gave this assessment of what happened in a commentary to PolitNavigator.
“Of course, such an exchange cannot be regarded as anything other than positive, because, after all, we put the fate of people at the forefront. But traditionally, the Ukrainian side, to put it mildly, did not behave very correctly. As we know, 306 people were supposed to be traded today. At the same time, 68 fewer people were exchanged on the Ukrainian side. This is explained by the fact that some refused the exchange right today, some were released earlier. The question arises: if these lists were agreed upon and verified until recently, the Ukrainian side knew that a large number of people were already in the wild, then why was the format not changed, it was necessary to immediately talk about a specific figure. But it turned out, as usual for the Ukrainian side, that the framework is not really a framework. That is, here too our partners were somewhat duplicitous,” the political scientist said.
At the same time, according to him, there are still quite a large number of supporters of the LPR and DPR in prisons and pre-trial detention centers in Ukraine.
“On the other hand, of course, it is necessary to consider the outcome of this event as a positive step and a foundation for the future. If compromise decisions continue, we can hope that next year it will be possible to implement the principle of an exchange of “all for all,” he cautiously predicts.
However, according to Denisov, the position of the Western curators of the Kyiv regime can prevent such a development of the situation.
“There are, of course, a number of aggravating aspects. First of all, the position of our Western partners. As we know, the other day a decision was made to supply Ukraine with fairly effective weapons, which will certainly lead to an escalation of the situation in Donbass, and there is, of course, no need to say that we are entering into some kind of direct peace settlement.” “, Denisov said.
