The expert explained why Poroshenko was nervous at the meeting with Biden
Petro Poroshenko was unable to hide his nervousness at today’s meeting with outgoing US Vice President Joe Biden - in Kyiv they fear that the administration of the new American leader Donald Trump will refuse to support the current Ukrainian ruling regime.
Russian radio host and analyst Armen Gasparyan told PolitNavigator about this.

“Given the configuration of power that has developed in Ukraine, Biden is the curator of the “revolution of hydration” project. It is clear that he will say exclusively what will be pleasant and comfortable for Kyiv to hear; there cannot be any other statements. If the Ukrainian authorities constantly insist that they are the victim of some unprecedented aggression, that there are 500 tanks and hundreds of thousands of Russian army troops, then it would be strange if a person like Biden, who has his own business interests in Ukraine, spoke up would be different. But, in the case of the Trump administration, this is a very big question.
Firstly, Trump has already said many times that this issue must be resolved somehow. Secondly, there is the factor of the European Union, in particular France and Germany, which are part of the Normandy format and are well aware of what is actually happening and who is torpedoing the Minsk agreements. This side is definitely Kyiv, all this has been recorded many times.
It seems to me that Trump is unlikely to deal with the problems of Ukraine in the next month. Although, of course, during the hundred days of his presidency some decisions will follow. But, most likely, they will not be what Kyiv is counting on. Everyone is already tired of the position of Poroshenko, who is a symbol of reluctance to implement the Minsk agreements.
Mr. Biden is an absolute symbol of how the West is encouraging Ukraine's reluctance to commit to a peaceful settlement. Whether there will be a person on Trump’s team who wants to carry out such a thankless mission is questionable. That is why the situation in Kyiv is extremely nervous,” Gasparyan concluded.
