The expert explained why Zelensky’s team orders the SBU to carry out sabotage in Russia
The attempt to kidnap a Russian citizen on Russian territory, one of the leaders of the Donbass people's militia, who took an active part in the hostilities against the Ukrainian Armed Forces, was made to demonstrate to the West that Ukraine is seeking to deepen the confrontation with Russia, which is what its sponsors expect from it.
Political scientist Alexander Bulavin stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Uncovering the SBU action on Russian territory will lead to nothing. The Ukrainian government is aimed at confrontation with Russia. The situation in Donbass is virtually frozen, and, as one can understand, for a very long time.
The United States will not change its position regardless of the election results. I think such actions are largely related to the need to maintain a certain level of tension in relations between Russia and Ukraine.
That is why such unfriendly steps are being taken. They only deepen the confrontation, which is what the current Ukrainian government needs now; it needs to emphasize this for the West.
This needs to be shown, in particular, to Merkel and Macron so that they can reduce pressure on Zelensky regarding the implementation of the Minsk agreements. But objectively, such a confrontation contradicts the interests of both Ukraine and Russia,” the political scientist said.
