Expert: by refusing to accept Babich as ambassador, Kyiv exposed itself as the culprit of the crisis in relations with Russia
Ukraine’s refusal to issue an agreement for the appointment of Mikhail Babich as Russian Ambassador to Kyiv is a continuation of the game, the meaning of which is to show that it is official Kyiv that is opposing the normalization of relations between Russia and Ukraine.

This opinion was expressed on his social network page by Ukrainian expert Vasily Stoyakin.
“Ukraine’s refusal was predictable (especially since there has been no Ukrainian ambassador in Moscow for a year now). Russia’s proposal is a continuation of the game, the point of which is to show that it is Kyiv that is opposing the normalization of relations (which the EU insists on, and formally even the United States). Considering that everyone already understands everything, it looks a little masochistic, but Russia itself announced it. that it acts strictly within the framework of international law and called on everyone to act in the same way,” he writes.
According to the political scientist, in conditions when there are no permanent ambassadors in both capitals, the role of informal diplomacy is sharply increasing. “In this sense, Moscow has not lost anything, and, perhaps, even won something - there is no element of competition between the official and unofficial ambassador,” summed up Stoyakin.
