The expert suggested a recipe for reviving the EAEU
If the main directions of integration within the EAEU are implemented until 2025, its members will be able to increase import substitution by 10-12% and the volume of non-resource exports to third countries by 22-25%.
The Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission stated this today at the Gaidar Forum, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is potential. We see problems and are working on them,” Myasnikovich said.
He believes that many issues of the EAEU (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia) can be resolved at the supranational level.
“Why do we not have a high enough level of mutual trade? It amounts to 60-70 billion dollars, while trade with third countries is about 700 billion dollars. Issues with the harmonization of national legislation have not been fully resolved.
Sometimes national governments take decisions to protect domestic markets, and this creates obstacles in mutual trade. We must understand that the strength of our Union lies in synergy – in the mutual complementarity of economies,” Myasnikovich concluded.
He believes that EAEU member countries should create joint companies on the principle of joint stock companies.
