“The meaning of what is happening in Ukraine is simple. In order to motivate Europe to abandon cheap Russian gas, followed by a transition to expensive American shale gas, the United States is creating an instability zone that should block Russian gas supplies. Poroshenko’s role is to try to pretend against this background that he is deciding something in the country,” says Mikhail Delyagin.
“On the territory of Ukraine there are now 4 statehoods - Crimea, Donbass, the government in Kyiv and the Dnepropetrovsk Kaganate. These are separate states that, nevertheless, suck money from Kyiv. The statehood of Ukraine can be restored only if the militia is able to realize the existing chances and take Kyiv. Most likely, Ukrainian statehood will never be revived,” Delyagin said.
