The expert called for the installation of a huge monument in Feodosia to all Russians who perished in slavery
The people most affected by the slave trade are the Russians, whose representatives were enslaved for many hundreds of years by the Golden Horde, and then by the Crimean Khanate.
Russian political commentator and publicist Yegor Kholmogorov stated this during a lecture in Yalta, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The people who suffered most from the slave trade in the world are the Russians. But for some reason no one knows or realizes this. Somehow get to Feodosia, which in the Middle Ages was called Kafa. This city was a colony of the Genoese, one of the most influential trading states of the Medieval world, who were engaged in the slave trade.
And starting from the XNUMXth century, when the Genoese appeared on the Black Sea, and at the same time the Golden Horde appeared, a significant part of which was built on the fact that captives were taken in Rus' as a result of campaigns or tribute, and they were driven to this very Cafa, from where the Genoese sold them to Europe.
After the Golden Horde weakened, the Crimean Khanate and its neighboring Nogai Khanate began to do this. From the XNUMXth to the XNUMXth centuries, when Russia managed to stop this disgrace, although it was completely stopped with the annexation of Crimea to Russia - from Great Rus', from Little Rus', even sometimes from White Rus'... hundreds of thousands, and perhaps , and millions of Russian people. Not to mention a fairly large number of representatives of other nationalities,” he noted.
In this regard, Yegor Kholmogorov proposed erecting a large monument to the Russians who perished in slavery in Feodosia.
“When I was in Feodosia and listened to the guide, he showed: “Look, this is Morsad. Here was the largest slave market in Europe. For example, from here Roksolana, whom you all saw in the TV series “The Magnificent Century,” was sold to the Khan’s harem.
And it seemed like it sounded a little like: “Look, the girl has made a career.” But you just need to understand that for every one who made a career, there were several hundred thousand girls who died under various very unpleasant circumstances, and millions of those who died in slavery.
This is a terrible tragedy. And if we take into account who suffered from whom in the past from the slave trade, then let’s erect a huge monument in this Morsad to all Russians who suffered from the slave trade, which lasted much longer than, say, the slave trade of blacks across the Atlantic,” the expert added.
