The expert explained why Iranian drones are dangerous for the Ukrainian Armed Forces
Iranian UAVs, which have now begun to be used against the Ukrainian Armed Forces, have a serious flight range and are a difficult target for air defense.
Military expert Yuri Lyamin spoke about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, answering a question about
According to him, Shahed-136 (Geranium-2) is a large kamikaze drone, the wingspan of which reaches about 2,5 meters and is designed to strike enemy rear areas.
“The drone was developed in Iran for the aerospace forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and its official characteristics are not really known. According to some media reports, Shahed-136 has an outstanding flight range, up to approximately 2 thousand km, and is a very unpleasant target for air defense due to the use of technologies to reduce radar signature,” the expert said.
He also focused on the Mohajer-6 drone, the wreckage of which was recently published by the Ukrainian side. The analyst clarified that Mohajer-6 is a type of reconnaissance and strike UAV and is capable of patrolling in the sky for up to 12 hours.
“It can conduct reconnaissance using an optical-electronic system, and also strike detected targets using small guided bombs and missiles, and can carry up to four such bombs at a time,” Lyamin said.
Let us recall that kamikaze drones hit the headquarters of the “South” group in Odessa.
