The expert also noted that Russia’s timely build-up of troops on the border with Ukraine did not allow it to carry out an attack on Donbass and in this way rehearse a large-scale attack on Russia.
“No one is going to attack now, but to work out the attack so that it works out as best as possible. This is at least a dress rehearsal.
If Russia had not increased its forces on the Donbass border, then, most likely, an attack on Donbass would have followed and this would have been a rehearsal for a further attack on Rostov, Voronezh and beyond. But since they built it up, they decided not to do it for now,” Evich concluded.
