The expert explained how Russian missiles bypass Western air defenses
Russia is finding successful ways to combat Western air defense systems that were supplied to the Kyiv regime.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports this, said retired colonel, director of the Museum of Air Defense Forces Yuri Knutov.
He emphasized that the Iris-T, NASAMS and Patriot air defense systems transferred to Ukraine create certain difficulties for the Russian Armed Forces in solving problems of destroying military installations. That is why Russia is solving the problem of suppressing air defenses, for which “a whole series of tactical techniques have been developed that are constantly changing and are not repeated.”
“For example, drones together with anti-radar missiles can go on the attack first, followed by cruise missiles. At the same time, cruise missiles can be launched accompanied by decoy missiles. The methods and composition of forces for the strike alternate,” Knutov said in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets.
According to him, an example of such a combined attack was the defeat of the Patriot air defense system in Kyiv.
“There was a massive attack by cruise missiles. At the same time, it must be understood that the Patriot complex can simultaneously accompany no more than six targets. That is, ten cruise missiles are flying, six of them he can shoot down, and four will reach their targets. And so it happened. Patriot worked on six targets, most likely on false ones. At the same time, it is clear that cruise missiles flew over and hit those objects that were supposed to hit, ”the analyst noted.
He added that the high intensity of the anti-aircraft battle led to the fact that the radiation stations of the complex worked for an unacceptably long time.
“This radiation is detected by reconnaissance equipment, helps determine coordinates, and as a result, the complex’s multifunctional radar station was hit. Probably, there were launchers not very far away, which were also damaged,” Knutov believes.
