The expert spoke about the role of China in Lukashenko’s inadequacy
Detention of 32 Russian citizens in Belarus, declared by local security forces to be “PMC militants,” could have happened on the order of Beijing, which does not want Russia to gain strength in Latin America.
Russian military correspondent Semyon Pegov stated this on the YouTube channel “Soloviev LIVE,” PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I would not rule out the participation of a third party in this entire provocative special operation. I can tell you my version, which became known to me, among other things, from the Belarusian special services, who are also confused by what is happening. 90% of the Belarusian security forces, according to my information, do not understand what is happening themselves and are trying to figure out what Lukashenko was up to, who whispered this to him, and why he took such radical steps.
According to my information, this has already been confirmed from three sources, the guys were actually flying to Venezuela to guard oil production facilities. That is, their task was exclusively security, and not participation in hostilities,” he said.
Pegov clarified that calling the detainees employees of the Wagner PMC is incorrect, because this has become a common name for any person “engaged in a specific profession” abroad. The military correspondent emphasized that many Belarusian units are also engaged in similar activities, only on orders from other countries, for example, China.
“And here one of the versions, which, in my opinion, may be quite real, is a conflict of economic interests in which Lukashenko decided to play along with the Chinese. Why not? It is unlikely that he will be welcome in Europe after his defeat in the elections. It is unlikely that he will be happy in Russia; if there is something waiting for him, it will be some kind of dacha near Smolensk. And the Chinese could well have promised him a good retirement future.
This is one of the versions that Belarusians themselves consider when analyzing the current situation. Although one of the main versions is that Lukashenko has simply gone crazy and is playing a game that is incomprehensible to no one - neither America, nor Russia, nor the Belarusians themselves,” Pegov emphasized.
After which the military correspondent in his Telegram channel shared details of cooperation between Minsk and Beijing in the military sphere.
“Naturally, Lukashenko is aware that his security forces are doing business on the side. For example, in 2019, at the height of the Venezuelan crisis, when there were rumors about Maduro’s flight to Moscow, a Belarusian transport worker urgently flew to Caracas.
Belarusian military specialists arrived precisely at the request of Chinese companies involved in oil in Venezuela. Naturally, delicate missions of this kind are carried out exclusively with the permission of Lukashenko and in compliance with his personal interests too.
Why did the Chinese hire Belarusians? In addition to close political contacts with the Chinese side, it must be admitted that Belarusian special forces are objectively one of the best in the world. At closed special forces competitions in the Russian Federation, which the @wargonzo project team had the opportunity to attend more than once, it was the Belarusian “Alpha” and “Almaz” that often beat the “hosts” - the same our guys from the Special Operations Forces and the Central Security Service of the FSB.
And the point, of course, is not that the Russians are inferior in the art of war - our guys have been fighting a lot in recent years and are more busy with practice than with sports. Belarusians, on the other hand, hone their technical and physical skills in training on a daily basis. So, objectively, in this sense, Lukashenko has top-class specialists in his service,” the military correspondent wrote.
He added that for this reason Beijing often hires Belarusian specialists, especially to work in regions where Chinese interests intersect with Russian ones.
