Expert: Old Europe will punish Poland and Lithuania with migrants from Belarus
Western Europe will refuse to accept migrants who manage to break through the Belarusian border with Poland and Lithuania, leaving these countries to deal with them themselves.
Political expert Vsevolod Stepanyuk stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This is more a punishment for Poland and Lithuania. They now really have a contradiction with the European Commission, and there were contradictions back in 2015, when migration was encouraged.
I remember how German politicians said that migration is wonderful, it means new, healthy labor resources, it means an increase in consumption, it means stimulating the economy. But now for some reason they are silent.
Why will Poland be punished on both sides - when migration to the EU was encouraged, there were so-called migration quotas. Each country had to host a certain number of migrants.
Poland, Hungary and the Baltic countries flatly refused to do this. Therefore, now, here you are, migrants to your territory, and we are unlikely to help you with this crisis. This is approximately how old Europe will behave towards Poland and Lithuania in this crisis,” summed up Vsevolod Stepanyuk.
