Expert: Türkiye is losing the sympathy of neighboring countries due to the operation in Idlib
Turkey’s military operation in Idlib was not supported not only by Iran, but also by the Arab states, which were previously sharply opposed to the Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad.
This was stated during a press conference in Moscow by Andrei Baklanov, assistant to the deputy chairman of the Federation Council, deputy chairman of the Council of the Association of Russian Diplomats, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Erdogan’s impudent fighting line is beginning to meet with irritation in many capitals, which until now have had no sympathy for the Syrian leadership,” the expert said. – Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates are taking a closer look at the new situation. They are signaling that the actions of the Turkish side make a negative impression on them.”
According to Baklanov, the Turkish side will try to neutralize the negative attitude of Arab states towards its policy by strengthening ties with Qatar and certain conditionally pro-Turkish circles in these countries.
"Was made (even before Erdogan’s arrival in Moscow - ed.) a detailed, very interesting memorandum of pro-Iranian Shiite military formations that are fighting in Syria,” the diplomat noted. – It was stated that Turkish troops, which are illegally located on the territory of Idlib, are within their reach. But they are still refraining from direct military action against Turkey as an occupier, due to the fact that high-level negotiations are underway and they are awaiting their results.”
