Expert: “Ukrainians will not go on vacation to their enemies in Crimea”
Kyiv, July 20 (Navigator, Yuriy Kovalchuk) – Tourism in Crimea is doomed because Ukrainians now perceive it as enemy territory, said the head of the Maidan of Foreign Affairs Foundation Andrey Klimenko on the Ukrainian TV channel “24”.

“Ukrainians, and many Crimeans, are offended by the annexation of Crimea and now perceive it as enemy territory, and, of course, they will not go on vacation to their enemies,” Klimenko said.
According to Klimenko, Crimea’s income from tourism in different years amounted to about 4-5 billion dollars. Now the peninsula has lost its “appearance” and will no longer develop as a resort. 75% of Crimean tourists were from Ukraine and only 20-22% were Russian, so if the same logistics are maintained, you can count on only a fifth of the previous volume of attendance.
“I think that since the beginning of the year, about 800-900 thousand tourists have visited Crimea. The occupancy rate of large hotels in Yalta is 40%. In Evpatoria – 30%. In Alushta up to 30%. But the private sector, which received 80% of vacationers, will receive 5-7% of vacationers. People will think very hard, starting in September, what to do about it. By autumn they will understand that this business is over and there will be a second wave of emigration to the mainland and people will understand that Mr. Putin does not need Crimea as a resort,” says Andrei Klimenko.
As Navigator reported, Western Ukraine previously complained about the decrease in the number of tourists from Russia and Europe.
