Expert: The West will not allow gas fields off the coast of Crimea to be taken from Ukraine
Kyiv, March 07 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – About 2 billion cubic meters of gas are produced annually off the coast of Crimea, which completely meets the needs of the peninsula and accounts for 10% of all “blue fuel” production in Ukraine.
Kiev energy market expert Valentin Zemlyansky told Navigator about this.

“Gas production is about 2 billion cubic meters per year - it increased slightly after the arrival of new drilling rigs. In total, about 2 billion cubic meters per year are produced in Ukraine. That is, in Crimea - 10% of all production. It will provide itself with gas, but there are problems with electricity – the peninsula is only 20% supplied,” the analyst said.
However, in his opinion, the Chernomorneftegaz company and the fields it has developed legally will most likely remain subordinate to Kyiv - Naftogaz of Ukraine.
Naftogaz took out loans in the West, and all international agreements stated that the company should not have carried out restructuring - the separation of any structures. So an attempt to take away Chernomorneftegaz will cause a negative reaction from the West,” Zemlyansky explained.
