Expert forecast: NATO equipment will not withstand the Ukrainian winter
The equipment transferred to Ukraine by NATO countries may not withstand the winter, because it is unlikely to be supplied with the necessary amount of oils and additives to operate in cold weather.
The director of the Museum of Air Defense Forces, retired colonel Yuri Knutov, announced this on the air of the Internet channel “Volnaya Street”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Knutov, this may affect the maneuverability of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and their ability to carry out combat operations.
“Much will depend, of course, on the weather. If there is a cold winter and snowfalls, then, in general, this may affect the actions of the Ukrainian armed forces - this is 100%. That is, NATO equipment, I don’t even doubt it, will not have a sufficient amount of additives for oils and fuel.
Appropriate additives are added to ensure that the fuel does not thicken when it comes to diesel fuel and diesel fuel. The oil must also maintain the appropriate viscosity. “I believe that there simply won’t be enough of these additives and this will limit the possibility of using automotive and other equipment and, naturally, will affect the maneuvering capabilities of the Ukrainian army,” Knutov said.
