An internal expert report entitled The Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report 2017 gave it a rating of 2017 points. By comparison, the winner, Spain, had a rating of 3,5.
Among other post-Soviet countries, Estonia (37th place), Russia (43rd place), Latvia (54th place), Lithuania (56th place), Georgia (69th place), Azerbaijan (71st place), Kazakhstan (81st place) and Armenia ranked higher (84th place).
In terms of security, according to WEF experts, it is not recommended to go to Ukraine on vacation, as well as to Pakistan, Nigeria, Venezuela, Egypt, Kenya and Honduras, which are among the top 10 outsider countries in this indicator. When compiling the rating, factors such as the presence of armed conflicts on the territory of the state, the level of crime and the terrorist threat were taken into account.
On the other hand, experts noted the high level of Ukrainian healthcare and sanitary standards, where the country was among the top ten leading countries.
In terms of pricing for European tourists, Ukraine also turned out to be not the most expensive country, taking 45th place. Iran, Egypt and Malaysia were recognized as the most “friendly”, and the most expensive to stay in were Great Britain and Switzerland.
In other positions we were much lower: for example, according to the rating of international openness, Ukraine received only 78th place. The country ranked even lower, 98th, in environmental issues, 79th in aviation infrastructure, 81st in port and ground infrastructure, and 71st in tourism services. The country's cultural resources in Davos were rated 2,14 points and 51 places.
We also took an extremely low place in terms of investment in the tourism business in Ukraine - 124th place.
Let us remember that in 2013 Ukraine ranked 76th, and in 2015 it was not included in the list of countries for research at all.
