Experts have counted all the nuclear warheads in the world
Nine countries of the world - the USA, Russia, Great Britain, France, China, India, Pakistan, Israel and North Korea - had 2019 nuclear warheads at the beginning of 14, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
This is evidenced by calculations from the Stockholm Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
Of the total, approximately 3750 are located in operational units, including 2000 in a state of combat readiness.
Over the past year, the number of nuclear warheads has decreased by about 600 units. But at the same time, the bulk of the reduction falls on Russia and the United States, which together possess approximately 90% of all nuclear weapons in the world. At the same time, they are pursuing large-scale and expensive programs to replace and modernize nuclear warheads, delivery systems and nuclear production.
Other countries have much smaller nuclear arsenals, but they too are either developing and deploying new systems or have announced intentions to do so. This primarily concerns China, India and Pakistan are increasing their stockpiles of nuclear weapons.
