Considering forecasts from weather forecasters, as well as limited energy resources, Ukrainians should prepare for rolling blackouts in winter. They definitely will.

This was stated by Ukrainian expert economist Alexander Okhrimenko.

“We can definitely expect a power outage, I’ll tell you right away. And if the winter is not the same as last year, then there will definitely be blackouts. And most likely, there will be such practices as reducing general temperatures. That is, they will heat the water so that there is enough for everyone, and its average temperature will be 3-4 degrees lower than usual. There won’t be enough resources and that’s a fact,” he predicts.

At the same time, according to the expert, it will be more difficult for the provinces than for the capital.

“You understand that in the capital there are unlikely to be blackouts, but in the provinces, well, depending on which province, blackouts are possible even for the whole day. In the 90s, we already went through all this, and there were blackouts, and indeed, the provinces suffered a lot then,” Okhrimenko added.

The expert explained that in conditions of a significant decrease in air temperature in winter, Ukrainian thermal power plants simply do not have enough resources to produce sufficient heat and electricity.
