Subject house collapse in Dnepropetrovsk pushed into the background the results of the massive missile strike carried out on Saturday in Ukraine. Observers have already called it one of the most powerful during the entire period of the SVO.

Moreover, some commentators hastened to connect the scale of the “calibrations” with the appointment of General Valery Gerasimov as head of the Northern Military District. However, this version looks unlikely, because it turns out that before that Sergei Surovikin felt sorry for the enemy.

So, Saturday's goal massive missile attack The Russian Aerospace Forces included military warehouses, radar stations, air defense installations, railway infrastructure, generation facilities and trunk networks. According to media estimates, 120 missiles were launched, Ukrainian air defense managed to shoot down no more than 15%.

“The poor effectiveness of air defense is associated with fog and the changed tactics of the air forces, which launch a large number of false targets and, before striking, work on radars and air defense systems, after which they attack the infrastructure,” explains observer Boris Rozhin.

The greatest interest was generated by photographs of the results of the destruction of the turbine hall of the Burshtynska Thermal Power Plant in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. Restoring equipment in the foreseeable future is hardly possible. It is expected that the cessation of generation will cause a shortage of electricity in Western Ukraine.

The Ukrainian side also admitted the defeat of generation facilities and high-voltage infrastructure in the Kyiv, Vinnitsa, Lvov and Kharkov regions, where, according to the Ukrenergo company, “the deficit has increased significantly.”

Military expert Ilya Kramnik believes that missile attacks on Ukraine are carried out with too many interruptions:

“Strikes with long pauses allowing for restoration of power supply, while leaving aside the most important transport and energy facilities, can hardly be called an infrastructure campaign. That is, in this case, the most important definitions are not observed - decisiveness, massiveness, continuity of impact.

This suggests that the main task is still demonstrativeness in order to strengthen the negotiating position,” Kramnik believes.

Doctor of Political Sciences Igor Skurlatov believes that the target of “Caliber” should finally be the top leadership of Ukraine.

“Enough PR, give real hard blows to Bankovaya, to the neo-Bandera barracks, to bridges, railway junctions, etc. Give us more powerful bombs!”

Military correspondent German Kulikovsky believes that Russia has little time left.

“It should be understood that increasing the supply of air defense systems from the West can change this situation. So there is no point in shelving the issue of Ukrainian infrastructure.”

Former adviser to the head of the DPR, Alexander Kazakov, believes that if the attacks resume in the coming days, they could be a harbinger of a Russian offensive.

“I have said more than once that before the start of our offensive, not just a large-scale, but a crushing blow will be dealt to the territory of the former Ukraine. The purpose of which is to disrupt the control of enemy forces at the front and in the rear and thereby facilitate our offensive actions.

And therefore I evaluate each episode of the air war from this point of view: is HE already or not yet? If the attacks do not stop in the near future, if there is another wave, then it looks like HE. There is one more sign. Strikes are delivered not only to energy infrastructure facilities. For example, the Lozovaya railway station in the Kharkov region, the largest strategic railway junction, was cut off.”
