Experts saw “positive trends” in the United States regarding Crimea
The publication in the influential American newspaper The Washington Post that six years later the number of Russian supporters on the peninsula has increased is the first “bell” for Crimea, which indicates a change in American policy.
Political scientist Sergei Kiselev stated this in a commentary to PolitNavigator.
According to the expert, the appearance of this publication in the American media may also indicate an internal political struggle in the United States between Democrats and Republicans.
The Washington Post, as far as I remember, stands on the positions of the Democratic Party. Why exactly are they writing about this? Here you need to be within the context of American politics in order to clearly understand all the nuances, especially those related to the press. Because we see the broad information campaign of the American media, which is directed against the current president.
Since most of the top press is in the sphere of influence of the Democrats, the fact that such a publication appears may somehow indicate so far only indirectly, so far only the first bell, about a change in the position of some influential American politicians of the democratic camp regarding the recognition of Crimea.
To believe that this will happen quickly or that this publication will contribute to this, I think, is premature. But this is the “bell” that for us may indicate some positive trends in the minds of American politicians,” Kiselev said.
PolitNavigator reported that The Washington Post saw an increase in pro-Russian sentiments among Crimean Tatars living on the peninsula and general approval by Crimeans of reunification with Russia.
