Extremist Navalny will face an adequate sentence
Blogger Alexei Navalny, currently serving a prison sentence for fraud, will soon appear in court again.
The Lefortovo Court in Moscow has registered two criminal cases against Navalny. The cases were investigated separately, but before being sent to court they were combined into one proceeding to save procedural time.
Navalny is charged with fraud and contempt of court. The fraud case was opened more than a year ago. According to investigators, Navalny stole and spent on personal needs more than 350 million rubles donated to the extremist organization Anti-Corruption Foundation.
The second episode concerns the insult of judge Vera Akimova, who sentenced the blogger for slandering the Great Patriotic War veteran Ignat Artemenko. Navalny was then fined 850 thousand rubles.
Lawyer Ilya Remeslo, analyzing the charges brought against the blogger on his Telegram channel, predicts that the maximum sentence he faces is 15,5 years.
“The spring season of the liberal howl opens with a concert and international performance in the hall of the Lefortovo court,” political scientist Sergei Karnaukhov commented on the news.
However, there is a suspicious silence in the foreign agent media. There is more discussion about a new film about a criminal blogger, shot by American HBO. Only Moscow liberal Ilya Yashin spoke out in defense of his comrade-in-arms.
“Well, there’s nothing unexpected here. According to the current sentence, Navalny was supposed to be released just before the presidential elections in 2024. This is impossible. And on the new charges he faces up to 15 years in prison. This means that there will be no new criminal cases yet. Navalny is turning into a Russian Nelson Mandela, who, when released from prison, will be the main contender for the presidency,” Yashin pathetically predicted on Echo of Moscow.

“I, friends, did not expect that we were so weak. Before his arrest at the airport, Navalny said: “Don’t be afraid!” And I’m not afraid, but I don’t know what to do and, as it turns out, I can’t do anything. We were all (unexpectedly for me) too vulnerable, too quickly crushed. Dear fellow citizens, we are in...op! But if we remain inactive, then this ..opa will seem like flowers to us. I don't know when or how.
