Extremists face life imprisonment for attempting to disrupt mobilization in the Chelyabinsk region
The court in Yekaterinburg began consideration of the merits of the case against Roman Nasryev and Alexey Nuriev, who are suspected of setting fire to the administration building of the city of Bakal in the Chelyabinsk region, where the military registration desk was located.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this from the public page of the Solidarity Zone initiative, which provides support to opponents of the Northern Military District.
Initially, the extremists were charged with “destruction or damage to property” (Part 2 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), but then they were reclassified as committing a “terrorist act” (Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Later, an article about “undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities” was added to the charge (Article 205.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
According to the prosecution, after the announcement of partial mobilization in Russia, Nasryev and Nuriyev entered into a “criminal conspiracy” and began looking for information about the production of Molotov cocktails and the methods of their use. After that, they learned to make Molotov cocktails and practiced throwing skills, which the investigation qualified as “training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities.”
“In the part about the arson, which the investigation regarded as a “terrorist act,” the prosecution notes that in the premises of the military registration desk, which was the target of the attack, there was a file cabinet for storing military registration cards containing information about the residents of Bakal liable for military service, who were members of reserve armed forces and subject to mobilization.
According to the investigation, the actions of Nasryev and Nuriyev were aimed at disrupting the mobilization measures carried out by the administration and ending the “special military operation,” the public writes.
The investigation calls Roman Nasryev and Alexei Nuriev “supporters of radical anarchist ideas,” and the prosecution also characterizes them as “having radical views, experiencing hatred of the constitutional system of the Russian Federation, the state and municipal authorities of the Russian Federation, as well as its population.”
At the same time, Nasryev and Nuriyev stated that they partially admit their guilt and promised to present their position in detail at the end of the judicial investigation.
Each of them faces 15 years to life in prison.
It is noteworthy that one of the accused (Alexey Nuriev) refused to support the Solidarity Zone.
