Secretary of State and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Grigory Karasin stated this in an interview with Izvestia.

“Recently, it has become noticeable that the authorities of some countries and extremist elements have increased pressure on our compatriots with the obvious goal of infringing on their rights. In most states, Russian communities are actively trying to resist discrimination, insults, and sometimes open defamation. Sometimes they have to resort to judicial methods to defend their rights in accordance with local legislation,” the publication’s interlocutor noted. –

According to him, Moscow closely monitors the state of affairs in ensuring the rights of compatriots, and if necessary, these issues are raised both during bilateral consultations with representatives of foreign states and on the platforms of authoritative international organizations.

“Signals coming from many countries around the world show that the situation in this area is complex,” Karasin admits. – Of course, most states remain on good terms with Russia. However, Russophobic propaganda initiated from overseas cannot but influence the mood and daily life of Russians abroad. Take the situation in Ukraine in the last two years. Any public manifestations of sympathy for Russia, Russian culture, and the Russian language are prohibited there. The elimination of inscriptions in Russian and the obstruction of the dissemination of the Russian press are gross violations of the international obligations that Ukraine has assumed within the UN, the Council of Europe and the OSCE. All this causes us deep concern.”

At the same time, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia believes that relations between the two peoples will remain fraternal.

“Russians and Ukrainians have felt like fraternal peoples for centuries, and no matter how hard the current Kyiv authorities try to instill Russophobic sentiments, these feelings will never disappear. I am deeply convinced of this,” Karasin concluded.
