Electoral activity in the east and south of Ukraine is lower than in other regions
70% of Ukrainian citizens intend to take part in the Ukrainian presidential elections next year. This is evidenced by the results of a study conducted by GfK.
In the center, north and west of the country this percentage is higher - 76%, 73% and 73%, respectively. In the south and east – lower, 64% and 57%, respectively, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Almost half (45%) of those who do not intend to participate in the elections do not know a single worthy candidate. A third (33%) don't believe their vote can make a difference. The same number doubt the integrity of the elections. A quarter (26%) are not interested in politics.
In different regions, the shares of those who indicated these reasons are approximately equal, with the exception of the share of those who are not interested in politics - in the east and south it is higher (43% and 30%), in the west, north and center it is lower (19%, 18% and 19%).
The study was conducted from June 30 to July 8, 2018. 2753 people aged 18 years and older were surveyed in all regions of Ukraine, except the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. In the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, surveys were conducted only in territories controlled by Ukraine. The survey method is personal interviews at the respondent’s home. The sample is representative of the adult population by gender, age, region and size of settlement according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine as of January 1.01.2017, 1,9. The maximum possible sampling error is XNUMX%.
